HOMECOMING | A Global Photographic Journey of Finding Home wherever you are

Homecoming is my global nature photography series born from a deeply personal journey of seeking and redefining “home” in the world’s wild places. From the wind-swept shores of Miami to the quiet countryside of England, each photograph captures a different face of Mother Nature, revealing something essential about resilience, belonging, and rootedness. As I traveled across continents, designing homes for others while often far from my own, I came to realize that “home” is more than a place—it’s a feeling that can be found within us and within the landscapes that shape us.

Among the series, Why Do Palm Trees Sway?, taken in Miami, speaks to the strength and flexibility of nature in times of turbulence. Watching palm trees sway through storms, I saw a reminder of resilience—a quality that we, too, are called upon to embody in life’s uncertain moments. Stillness Whispers, captured in the serene English countryside, is an homage to the quiet wisdom nature shares when we pause to listen. In contrast, Grounded Roots, an image of a mist-shrouded oak in Scotland, conveys a profound sense of groundedness, standing proud and resolute against the ever-changing landscape around it.

Each photograph in this series is an intimate dialogue with Mother Nature, capturing her wisdom, solace, and strength. In times of uncertainty or while feeling disconnected, I found myself turning to her; through the lens, I sought not only to capture her beauty but to reflect the consistency and groundness she offers. Nature’s elements—the rolling hills, endless seas, and ancient forests—serve as anchors, reminding us of the permanence found in the natural world even as we move through life’s transitions. These landscapes became my anchors, reminding me of the stability that can be found within even as I moved through life’s transitions.

Through this series, I hope viewers will connect with their own sense of place, perhaps discovering or redefining what “home” means to them. These images are my tribute to the landscapes that, in their quiet yet profound ways, offered me a sense of belonging and peace. In them, I hope you find a reminder that home is not always a fixed location; it can be as vast as the earth and as immediate as the feeling of being truly present in nature or as intimate as a quiet moment in stillness.

I invite you to take a deeper look at more image from the ‘Homecoming series here.

In our current times, there are more people traveling by air than at any time in human history.  There is a constant population of people wandering, leaving home, making many of us more rootless than ever before.

The joys and challenges of homecoming — the oldest tale in the world, repeated from The Odyssey to The Wizard of Oz.

In the last scene the Good Witch turns to Dorothy and says, “If you just wake up, you will see that you have always been at home.”  The Buddha also states this. We all go to sleep and need to reawake. Maybe its philosophy, religion, travel, or art,  that will awake us again. When all five senses are alive, you can be home anywhere!

As the world become more connected yet simultaneously disconnected, I ask you to connect within and perhaps we can all find a greater collective connectedness.

Thank you!
